Exit 45 is a tool that helps route differential traces into and out of pins and vias. With its normal settings, Xpedition often adds unneeded jogs around the trace/pin junction areas. Trying to tame them down can be a challenge. It’s also a challenge to get the routed pair centered on the pins or vias, which then adds unnecessary jogs in the traces.

Used in conjunction with the Align tool, this tool can make differential pair routing much faster and less frustrating.

It does all the math to draw the traces coming out of the pins or vias at exactly 45° angles, exactly crossing the end of the pins, and then uses the differential pair spacing to set the distance between the traces.

Once the Exit 45 traces are in place, it’s generally very easy to connect them to the rest of the pair’s routing.
