The Component Groups tool simply allows you to save a set of selected components so you can reselect them later.
Just select the parts and add a name for your new group.
This saves the group information locally with the design so that anyone can use it.
To reselect, you can pick a group from the list, or just select a component and the Component Groups tool will find the group for you.
